Traveling to Cambodia

VISA

Make sure to apply for an e-visa at least 3 working days before travelling to Cambodia: https://www.evisa.gov.kh/

CURRENCY

Both USD and local currency, Riel, are accepted in Cambodia. The exchange rate on the street is 4000 Riel to the USD.

Please be aware that vendors will often refuse US dollars if they aren’t in ‘perfect’ condition.

TRANSPORT

Everyone uses the app Grab, it’s like Uber and works for Cars or Tuk Tuks. It’s easy to use for all transport around Siem Reap and Phnom Penh. Tuk Tuks are a fun way to see the city! The Siem Reap airport is brand-new and quite far from the city center. It takes 45-60 minutes to drive from the airport into the city proper. Some hotels offer airport pick-up, usually for a fee, but it’s easy enough to use Grab or a flag down taxi at the airport (approx $30)

Buses operate frequently from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap and vice versa. The trip is around 5 hours and spots can be booked online. Giant Ibis a bus company we've used and liked. You could also hire private taxis instead.

TEMPLES

Siem Reap is famous for its temple complexes. You can purchase tickets at the ticket office in Siem Reap town or online. It is common to hire a tuk tuk / car with a driver to take you around the different temples for the day.
